St. Thomas Aquinas High School celebrated another successful year of Saints Athletics on June 11, recognizing student-athletes for their achievements, sportsmanship, and dedication across a wide range of sports.

The arts took centre stage as students, families, staff, and community members gathered for the annual Stellar Awards, an evening dedicated to celebrating the exceptional talent, creativity, and dedication of students involved in the arts.

For a group of St. Thomas Aquinas High School students, stepping up to the plate at Kenora's World Series meant more than playing baseball. It was an opportunity to build friendships, celebrate inclusion, and experience the power of belonging in a community where everyone had a place on the field.

Students at St. Thomas Aquinas High School are learning that philanthropy is about more than giving back. Through the Youth in Philanthropy program, students gained a deeper understanding of community needs while helping award grants to local organizations making a meaningful difference in Kenora.

St. Thomas Aquinas High School planted over 100 cedar trees, turning a practical need into a meaningful act of reconciliation, cultural learning, and environmental stewardship. Guided by Indigenous teachings, the project fosters connection to the land while creating a living legacy of respect, responsibility, and community.

On the morning of Wednesday, May 6, students from St. Thomas Aquinas High School took part in a meaningful 10-kilometre pilgrimage throughout the community in celebration of Catholic Education Week. This year’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness,” inspired students to step beyond the classroom and participate in a sacred journey of prayer, reflection, and faith.

Saints Week is a celebration of faith, community, and school spirit at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, bringing students and staff together through meaningful and engaging activities.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, all Grade 8 students from St. Thomas Aquinas High School had the opportunity to take part in an engaging, hands-on field trip to the Seven Generations Education Institute. This full-day experience was designed to provide early exposure to post-secondary programming and career pathways, made possible through the support of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP).

Students recently had the opportunity to explore the beautiful and intricate art of Pysanky, guided by Kat Reid and Cindy Melenchenko. This traditional art form uses a wax-resist method to write stunning, symbolic designs on eggs.

Students in Ms. Claire Sedesky’s Grade 9 Religion class is organizing a Sundae Fundraiser during Catholic Education Week. Proceeds will go toward supporting the Kenora Cat Shelter as well as A Dog’s Life

STAHS Spotlight - March 2026

At St. Thomas Aquinas High School, learning is going beyond the classroom and into the greenhouse with the growing success of the Green Industries course.

The Saints community gathered at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre to celebrate our Senior Saints hockey players during a special pre-game ceremony before their final home game of the season.

Six swimmers from the TA Saints represented their school on the provincial stage: Kinley Milloy, Liam Serino, Liam Cox, Stavros Straight, Josh Benson, and veteran Tazio Mastromatteo. Competing against the best high-school swimmers in the province, the group delivered an impressive performance marked by personal breakthroughs, strong relay results, and championship podium finishes. Leading the charge was Mastromatteo, who captured two gold medals and set a new OFSAA record, capping an outstanding championship performance and providing leadership for the younger Saints competing in their first OFSAA meet.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys Curling Team delivered a memorable performance at the NWOSSA Championship held in Fort Frances from February 28 to March 2, earning a hard-fought bronze medal after a dramatic final shot.

On Friday, January 16th, our St. Thomas Aquinas Grade 7 students traded their traditional classrooms for a day of discovery at the Seven Generations Education Institute.

Grade 9 students from St. Thomas Aquinas High School spent the day stepping into the world of work as part of Take Our Kids to Work Day, an annual event across Ontario that invites students to explore real-world career experiences.

Family, friends, teammates, and staff gathered in the gym today to celebrate our Senior Girls Basketball and Senior Boys Volleyball players during Court Sports Seniors Day.

Today, St. Thomas Aquinas High School proudly celebrated our annual Academic Awards Ceremony, recognizing the outstanding achievements of our Grade 9–11 students from the 2024–2025 school year.

St. Thomas Aquinas High School students laced up their runners on Thursday to take part in the annual Terry Fox Run, raising funds in honour of Terry’s legacy and his dream of ending cancer.

Mrs. Richards’ Raising Healthy Children class has taken a hands-on approach to understanding parenthood with the help of infant simulators, giving students a crash course in the challenges of caring for a baby.

Today, St. Thomas Aquinas High School proudly hosted the 2024 Rock n’ Rook X Country and Mountain Bike Race, welcoming schools from across the region, including Fort Frances, Dryden, Ignace, Pelican Falls, and Red Lake.

St. Thomas Aquinas High School (STAHS) proudly launched its first-ever Outdoor Education Reach Ahead Course, a 12-day program that offered students the opportunity to earn three different types of certifications and receive a PAD10 or 20 credit upon successful completion.

Four students from STAHS were accepted into the IISD Experimental Lakes Area LEAF Program this past school year, embarking on a journey from August to April. They explored the ELA site monthly, delving into various aspects of environmental science. Their journey culminated in a research project presented at the Arts Museum in April.

Mosswood Adventures Owner Engages Students at STAHS Lunch & Learn

This past weekend, six STAHS students attended the Model United Nations Assembly in Winnipeg. The three day event hosted students from all over Canada and parts of the United States. 🗺️

Over the March break, the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Travel Club embarked on an adventure to Europe, engaging in history, culture, and art.

On April 26th Mr. Dubchak's grade 10 Green Industries class took part in a field trip to the Ministry of Natural Resources, where they got to learn all about careers in the field, day to day operations, drone demos and more.

On March 26th, students from STAHS embarked on an journey into the realms of augmented and virtual reality at the Next-Gen Reality Showcase hosted by Seven Generations Education Institute. The event not only showcased the cutting-edge tools available at the institute but also ignited a spark of curiosity and innovation among the young minds.

Painted by former student artist Kitana Blackhawk and her team during her senior year in 2022, the mural has finally found its place as a centerpiece of cultural representation in the school.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Cheerleading Team showcased their exceptional talent at the Manitoba Provincial Cheerleading Championships held in Winnipeg over the weekend of April 6th.
