First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education

Dancers begin moving around the drum at a pow wow at St. Thomas Aquinas

At St. Thomas Aquinas High School we recognize that we live on Treaty #3 traditional territory. We strongly believe that it is important children understand and appreciate the culture, traditions and language of the Treaty #3 First Nations and Métis and we are proud to offer a variety of programs in our schools.

In 2017-2018 we began the Elder in Residence Program. We have Knowledge Carrier Isobel White located at the Catholic Education Centre. She supports language and culture initiatives across the board. We are also pleased to offer Ojibway language (Anishinabemowiin) studies. We believe Anishinabemowiin is something that should be cherished and taught to future generations.
