Soaring with Pride: STAHS Students Attend 2025 Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering

A group of STAHS students recently returned from an unforgettable journey to Vancouver, BC, where they took part in the 2025 Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering—and they came back with more than just memories.

Throughout the event, students engaged in powerful storytelling, workshops, and cultural celebrations that reinforced the strength and pride rooted in their heritage. They connected with mentors, explored post-secondary and career pathways, and were inspired by Indigenous professionals breaking barriers and leading with purpose.
“One of the highlights with our students was the pep rally held at BC Place,” shared Ms. Holmstrom. “It was amazing—with performances by Tia Wood, Notorious Cree, and Boogey the Beat. We had over 1,000 students participating in the Round Dance. The energy was incredible!”

This empowering experience left students feeling inspired, confident, and reconnected to their cultural identity—a testament to the impact of representation, celebration, and shared stories.

We are proud of our students for embracing this opportunity and grateful to all who made the gathering possible.
