As part of our Seniors Day celebration, we proudly honour each of our Grade 12 athletes for their dedication and contributions to STAHS sports. Below, you’ll find the students, along with the tributes that were read aloud during the event.

All quotes from Athletic and Active Living Lead, Megan Derouard.

Athlete
Jack Bush

"Jack is your definition of a team player, he is supportive of his teammates no matter what his position is. His iconic shot in Steinbach will be something that we will not forget any time soon. His hard work and dedication are incredible and I am very honoured to have had the opportunity to coach Mr. Bush. Wishing you all the best in your season to come."

Athlete
Alex Spivey-Gittins

"Alex works very hard to become one of our dependable starters and her presence on the court does not go unnoticed. Her positive attitude and humor help keep the team atmosphere happy and fun off the court. It has been such a pleasure to coach you Alex and we are wishing you all the best in your seasons to come."

Ashton Nutley

"Ashton has come a long way throughout his court sport journey here at TA. He has maintained a hard-working attitude and expects a lot of himself. Away from the court, his relaxed and carefree attitude has brought a lot of positivity to his teams. Remember that the lessons you learned in sports - teamwork, resilience, and dedication - will serve you well in your future endeavors."

athlete
Aiden Rose

"Aiden’s relentless desire to learn and grow, combined with his dedication to putting his body on the line for the team, has set him apart. His politeness and respect for others have made him not just a great athlete, but a terrific teammate and friend. As you move forward, keep that same passion for learning and willingness to give your all."
Athlete
Sophie Muise

"Sohpie’s competitive edge and determination makes her an absolute force on the court. Her humour and wit off the court keeps the spirit of the team up and her coaches laughing. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to coach such a remarkable athlete. Wishing you all the best in your seasons to come."

Athlete
Josh Fraser

"After spending some time coaching and getting to know Josh, his passion for the sport of volleyball became very apparent. Whether it’s high school practices, games, tournaments, or club commitments driving endless hours to and from Winnipeg, he eats, sleeps, and breathes volleyball. I wish him all the best and hope he carries this spirit into everything he pursues."

Athlete
Delaney Turner

"Delaney is a natural leader and exhibits great confidence in her sport. Her teammates also recognize these great qualities in her and voted her as co-captain for this season. She is a force on the court, and I am honoured to have coached such a remarkable athlete. Wishing you all the best in your seasons to come."

athlete
Hudson Willet

"Hudson has a way of handling any situation seemingly unphased. Whether the team edges out a close win or suffers a tough loss, he carries himself the same. His demeanor has made him a valuable teammate and surely this will benefit him no matter what the future has in store. We wish you the best of luck and thank you for all your dedication to TA."
Athlete
Tristan Kelly

"Although Tristan carries himself with such a serious demeanor, I can tell you from experience that this gym is his happy place. He has always been a coachable player, quietly working on his skills. Congratulations on all your current and future achievements and we thank you for all your hard work and dedication through your years here at TA."

Athlete
Diana Soto Payares

"Diana may appear to be small and quiet but when she is on the court - she is mighty, feisty and competitive. Her hard work never ceases to amaze her coaches and the commitment she has made to improving her game is remarkable. Diana's defence is tenacious and mighty. She outworks her opponent and is never afraid of a challenge. Diana's kindness knows no bounds as she is a wonderful teammate and is always there to help whether it's on the court or off. Best of luck Diana in your seasons to come!"

Athlete
James Hill

"I had the honour of coaching Hilly for Jr basketball and during this time I often joked with him that we would have to send him out on the court in a bubble. He was always bruised or bleeding but only because he was the toughest rebounder of the season and a force on defence. He was dedicated and hard working, an absolute pleasure to coach. Wishing you all the best in your seasons to come."
