Celebrating Our Senior Saints Hockey Players on Home Ice

Last night at the Moncrief Construction Center, friends, families, and fans came together to honour our Senior Saints hockey players in a heartfelt pre-game ceremony. 🏒✨ Both our girls' and boys' senior players were recognized for their dedication, leadership, and the impact they've made on and off the ice during their time with the Saints hockey program.

Each senior shared words of reflection, gratitude, and excitement for the future as they took the ice for their final regular season home game against the Broncos. It was a night filled with pride, emotion, and plenty of cheers from the stands!

Be sure to check out the gallery below to see special moments with their families, heartfelt captions from their coach, and personal messages from each senior player. 💙💛

Tatyana

#1 Tatyana Sandy-Kasprick

From the Coaches:

Tatyana is a compassionate and dedicated team player, bringing support and positivity both on and off the ice. As a goalie, she is a reliable last line of defense, making game changing saves and keeping the team above. Everyone wants to be roommates with Tatyana on any road trip. Her leadership, hard work, and team-first attitude make her an invaluable asset to our team. We will miss you, Taty!

From Taty:

I started playing hockey in Timbits when I was five, and in grade 4, my dad started teaching me to be a goalie. My first game in net was during a girls playoffs. It went to 3-on-3 overtime and then a shootout. We won, and in that intense moment, I knew I wanted to be a goalie from then on.

Over the years, I played on both boys' and girls' teams in Kenora Minor Hockey and the Lake of the Woods girls team. Some seasons were tough, and I played on my fair share of losing teams, but we always had fun.

Hockey has taught me perseverance, hard work, and the importance of teamwork, and encouraging each other, no matter what. Some of my best memories come from being part of the Saints, from road trips and time with the team to winning NWOSSAA against Fort Frances and competing at OFSAA. The time has gone by so fast, and it's hard to believe I won’t be a Saints girl next year.

My advice to future Saints is to enjoy every moment, have fun, don’t take it for granted, and always support each other, because one day, you’ll have to say goodbye.

Hockey and dance are my biggest passions, and I hope to continue both in the future. I’m planning to take a gap year to travel and experience life beyond school before continuing my studies. I want to thank my parents, coaches, managers, and teammates for all their support and for giving me memories I’ll cherish forever. I’m so grateful to be part of this hockey family.

Saints Senior Hockey Player

#12 Rylee Kipling

From the Coaches:

Rylee brings kindness, humor, and an unbeatable team spirit to everything she does. Her selflessness and willingness to support others make her an incredible teammate, while her contagious laugh lifts everyone’s spirits. We even named a drill after her this year. Whether on or off the ice, she creates a positive environment wherever she goes. We will miss you, Kipper!

From Rylee:

Who knew the little girl in the figure skates wearing a purple tutu to every practice would be standing here tonight wearing stinky hockey equipment? I switched over to playing hockey as a first-year novice after spending many hours in the rink watching my older brothers play. I wanted to be just like them, so I decided to try hockey. I continued to play both house league and rep hockey, representing Lake of the Woods Girls hockey, and will wrap up this year. One of my favourite memories from LOWGH was when our Bantam Canucks rep team went undefeated the whole season! I have had the privilege to play in the annual Little NHL with the Wikwemikong Lady Hawks since my first year of peewee, and I will play my last tournament with them this year. I had a lot of practice as a defence in these tournaments! I debuted in the NAFN last year, representing my home community of Whitefish Bay. The Whitefish Bay Lady Rangers skated to the championship and won the tournament. I joined the Saints team in grade 9. It has been a joy growing, developing, and maturing with such a great group of friends. My biggest highlight with the Saints was when we made history by becoming the first girl's hockey team from TA to make it to OFFSA!

My advice to future players is this, “Not every shift will be perfect. If you have a rough one, don’t dwell on it. Clear your mind, stay mentally tough, and keep pushing. Believe in yourself and never stop trying.

Almost 2 years ago, I lost my best friend Callie and her little brother Evan. Each time I step out on the ice, I think of her. I always remind myself to play for her as she would've done the same for me.

I would like to thank everyone who has shared my hockey journey with me. Special shout out to Saints manager Jodi, coaches Dave, Sean, Jess, Montana, Matt, and especially my dad for pushing me to be the best player I can be.

Next year, I plan to attend college and hope to continue my hockey career in some way.

I will treasure the many memories I have made both on and off the ice with all of these teams.

Saints Girls Hockey Player

#3 Delaney Turner

From the Coaches

Delaney is a dedicated and compassionate individual. She is known for her kindness, strong work ethic, being a loyal and dependable teammate both on and off the ice. She leads by example with her kindness and determination. Her commitment to hard work makes her an invaluable player in any sport or setting. We will miss you, Delaney!

From Delaney:

I want to start off by saying thank you to each and every one of you girls for making these past 4 years so amazing. My Saints career started out pretty rough. In my rookie year, we didn’t win a lot of games and it didn’t really feel like a true team. But each new year came with a new great group of girls that brought us closer together and made our team better, so thank you all for making this team feel like a family. I’m so grateful for all my experiences here and how the team and coaches have helped me grow not only as a player but also as a person.

Going to OFSAA for hockey has always been the goal and with all of your help, last year we finally achieved it. We made history by being the first ever Saints girls hockey team to make it to OFSAA, so now I will always get to one-up my sister because they never made it there.

One of my favourite memories is from grade 10 on the bus trip to Sioux Lookout when the whole team sang karaoke the entire way there, then won our game 16-0 and continued to sing the whole way back. Things like that is what makes this group so special and unforgettable. We all get along so well it is going to be very hard to say goodbye, but I know the team has such a bright future. But hey who knows, maybe you will all see me here again next year.

A kind and funny teammate, she lifts those around her with her positive attitude and leads by example. She never gives up and through hard work, dedication, and passion she has grown into an excellent hockey player. We will miss you, Reese!

From Reese:

With my last year of hockey coming to an end I’m realizing how grateful I am for everything this sport has given me. It has been a big part of my life since I was little and it’s taught me hard work, discipline, and how to work in as team and more, all things I will continue to use for the rest of my life. I have had so much fun playing with my best friends and it’s sad to think that I won’t be here playing with the team next year. If I could go back, I wouldn’t take anything for granted because it all goes by so fast and I can’t believe it’s almost over. My favourite thing has always been going to tournaments especially our rep tournaments when we were younger. I would like to thank my coaches Dave, Sean and Jess, the manager Jodie and my family. I would also like to thank all my old coaches, Pat,  for all of their time, effort, always pushing me and supporting me. I have made all of my best friends through hockey and I have been playing with some of these girls my whole life, I have made so many memories that I’ll never forget. I’m so lucky to have played on this team I’ve had so much fun and I wish I could have more time with them. I plan to go to university next year and I hope I can still be involved in hockey in some way, I will miss everyone so much.

My advice to incoming players is to enjoy every tournament, game, and practice because it’s over before you know it. Addy is a kind and selfless leader, always putting her team first. As our captain, she leads with passion, kindness, and selflessness. She is always inspiring those around her with her hard work and positivity. Her support and ability to bring out the best in others make her an invaluable asset both on and off the ice. We will miss you, Addy!

From Addy:

The memories I've made in hockey are ones I'll never forget. From novice hockey tournaments to going to OFSAA for the first time last year. The friendships I’ve created with the teammates I played with for years are unbreakable, they went from friends to family. The lessons and leadership I learned from hockey will carry with me long after high school and will stick with me for the rest of my life. It's hard to put into words how much il miss both practicing and playing with these girls, it makes me sad knowing that it's coming to an end, but am very thankful I got to have this experience.

My favorite hockey memory is winning the Husky Classic tournament in Winnipeg. This is important to me because it was my first year playing with my sister Cals, and we went out and won it. The advice I would give to future Saints players is to always try your best, it doesn’t matter who’s watching our game in the stands, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any points on the score sheet. When you don’t give up and have the work ethic good things will come and it won’t go unnoticed. The thought of every final bus trip, practice, and each game coming to an end is hard to shake. I am incredibly thankful for my experiences with my 4 years of Saints hockey. As my last year of high school hockey comes to an end I would like to thank my coaches, manager, teachers, family, and teammates, because I know it wouldn’t be possible to play without them.

Sophie is a highly skilled and determined individual, having talent both on and off the ice. Whether making game changing goals or excelling in other sports, she is a ferocious competitor at heart. She knows how to make an impact in the game. We will miss you, Sophie!

From Sophie:

Its hard to believe we are in our final season with the Saints hockey team. We have all played together on this team since grade 9, and the last 4 years have been unforgettable.  I have enjoyed so many great times and made so many friends on the team.  One of the best memories was winning NorWossa  by beating Fort Frances and attending Ofsaa last year, something no other TA Saints Girls team has done before.  I have enjoyed countless hours on a bus with my team.

One of my favorite hockey memories comes from a tournament in Winnipeg, where a harmless prank turned into an unforgettable moment—let’s just say a Sharpie, some creative teamwork, and a little payback made for a great story! Beyond the memories and wins, hockey has been a huge part of my life, it has shaped me into the player and person I am today.  Some of my best memories are of our Rep days in LOWGH.  We had a great team, we were undeafeated and learned a lot from our coach Pat Kipling.

A special shoutout goes to my Mom, my biggest supporter through it all, and my Dad, who never let me quit and always pushed me to give my best effort. Huge thanks also go to my coaches—Jess, Dave, and Sean—for their guidance and everything they’ve done for this team.

To the younger and upcoming Saints players, and to anyone playing this game: Enjoy every moment. Play every shift like it’s your last, because time flies. Lean on your teammates—they’re not just teammates, they’re family. Work hard and never forget why you love the game.

Once a Saint, always a Saint

Next year I plan to attend college and hopefully play hockey since it has always been a part of my life.
