Students and staff at St. Thomas Aquinas High School came together in a moving display of remembrance and solidarity to honour Red Dress Day and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S) movement.

With red-painted hands placed solemnly over their mouths, participants created a powerful visual tribute to the voices that have been silenced. The red handprint has become a widely recognized symbol within the MMIWG2S movement—a stark and poignant reminder of the daughters, granddaughters, sisters, aunts, mothers, grandmothers, Two-Spirit people, and friends whose lives have been lost or forever impacted by violence.

This act of remembrance was accompanied by important conversations, reflection, and a call to action. Students were encouraged to share their images and messages using the hashtags #MMIWG2S and #RedDressDay to raise awareness and honour those we remember.
