Students recently had the opportunity to explore the beautiful and intricate art of Pysanky, guided by Kat Reid and  Cindy Melenchenko. This traditional art form uses a wax-resist method to write stunning, symbolic designs on eggs.
Participants who signed up began their Pysanky journey on Tuesday, March 31, starting with designing their patterns before carefully applying wax using a traditional tool called a kistka. As the process unfolds, layers of dye and wax come together to reveal vibrant and meaningful artwork. The eggs symbolize new life and the Christian story of Christ’s Resurrection, symbolizing, hope, and victory over death.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Nadine Hoshwa for generously donating and preparing the eggs for this activity. Her support helped make this hands-on cultural experience possible for our students.
