The Grade 10-12 students from our Outdoor Education class recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in an overnight camping trip filled with hands-on learning and unforgettable experiences. Hosted by Totem Lodge, the adventure included a guided fishing expedition and a delicious shore lunch, where students not only fished but also practiced essential wilderness skills like open-fire cooking and safety in the wild.

A special highlight of the trip was a visit from Jyles Copenace, who captivated students with his expertise in falconry. Jyles shared his knowledge and demonstrated the beauty of the three majestic birds he trains: a Red-Tailed Hawk, a Gyrfalcon, and a Golden Eagle. Students were in awe as they learned about the ancient art of falconry and witnessed the grace of these incredible birds up close.

This hands-on trip would not have been possible without the support of Shelly Tom and FNMI, who helped bring this unique learning experience to life. The students came away from the adventure with not only a deeper understanding of nature but also lasting memories and invaluable outdoor skills.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this experience possible! 🏕️🌿
