Celebrating Student Success at STAHS Academic Awards

Today, St. Thomas Aquinas High School proudly celebrated our annual Academic Awards Ceremony, recognizing the outstanding achievements of our Grade 9–11 students from the 2024–2025 school year.

Family and friends filled the gymnasium, overflowing with excitement and pride as we celebrated our students’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. From academic accomplishments to character awards, the event shone a light on what makes our STAHS community so special.

Honouring Christian Attitude and Kindness

A highlight of the ceremony each year is the presentation of the Christian Attitude Awards. These awards are given to students who exemplify a positive Christian attitude and consistently demonstrate consideration, compassion, and kindness toward others.

Christian Attitude Award Recipients:
Grade 9: Celeste Temple, Nikolas King, Alex Kozitskyi
Grade 10: Emery Williams, Mehrosh Tanveer, Marlee Gauthier, Logan Elke
Grade 11: Georgia Cortvriendt, Jacob Silva, Troy Muckle

Recognizing Indigenous Student Achievement

We also celebrated students receiving the FNMI Academic Achievement Awards, presented to First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students with the highest academic averages in each grade.

FNMI Academic Achievement Award Recipients:
Grade 9: Aidan Brochu
Grade 10: Maia Vanasse
Grade 11: Legace Copenace

Additionally, the Treaty 3 First Nations Awards for Academic Achievement were presented to students with the highest academic standing in their grade, while the Treaty 3 First Nations Awards for Congeniality recognized those who show kindness, support, and leadership within their school and community.

Treaty 3 Academic Achievement Award Recipients:
Grade 9: Trenton McKay-Fiddler
Grade 10: Alexis Greene
Grade 11: Legace Copenace

Treaty 3 Congeniality Award Recipients:
Grade 9: Larry Cochrane
Grade 10: Sarah Ogemah
Grade 11: Aiden Kejick

Principal’s Medals of Academic Excellence

Principal’s Medals were awarded to students with the top three academic averages in each grade. For Grades 9 and 10, the top eight courses were considered; for Grade 11, the top seven courses determined the recipients.

Grade 9:
🥉 Bronze (TIE) – Irish Agustin & Azalea Kirkpatrick (94.38%)
🥈 Silver – Baylee Greaves (95.56%)
🥇 Gold – James Davidson Memorial Award – Celeste Temple (97.56%)

Grade 10:
🥉 Bronze – Maia Vanasse (93.06%)
🥈 Silver – Ellen Turner (93.63%)
🥇 Gold – James Davidson Memorial Award – Reese Benson (94.38%)

Grade 11:
🥉 Bronze – Sabrina Stoddart (95.86%)
🥈 Silver – Tazio Mastromatteo (97.86%)
🥇 Gold – James Davidson Memorial Award – Jacob Silva (98%)
